Indonesian Richest Men

In the list of 150 the richest men in Indonesia that released by Globe Asia Magazine August 2007 edition, two tobacco kings, Budi Hartono, Djarum boss, and Rachman Halim, Gudang Garam boss, are placed on the top position at number one and number two.

Budi Hartono, 66 years old, posses wealth for USD 4,2 billion (IDR 37,8 trillion). He gets his wealth from Djarum Group and BCA. Gudang Garam Boss, Rachman Halim, 60 years old, posses wealth for USD 3,5 billion (IDR 31,5 trillion).

Putera Sampoerna, who is formerly own cigarrete business is listed at number five with his wealth for USD 2,2 billion (IDR 19,8 trillion). Besides from the selling of HMSP share to PT Philip Morris Indonesia for IDR 18,5 trillion, he also gets his wealth from his property business in Rusia and Casino in London.

Executive Chairman of Globe Asia, Rizal Ramli said, if we combine the wealth of those three men, we will get USD 10 billion (IDR 90 trillion). Or almost 25 percent of the total wealth of 150 richest mans in Indonesia with total wealth USD 46,6 billion (IDR 419,4 trillion).


List of 10 (ten) richest men in Indonesia for the year 2007 according to Globe Asia Magazine are as follows:

2. Rachman Halim, 60, Gudang Garam, USD 3,5 billion (IDR 31,5 trillion)
3. Eka Tjipta, Grup Sinar Mas, USD 3,1 billion (IDR 27,9 trillion)
4. Soedono Salim/Liem Sioe Liong, 92, USD 2,8 billion (IDR 25,2 trillion)
5. Putera Sampoerna, Property and Casino, USD 2,2 billion (IDR 19,8 trillion)
6. Sukanto Tanoto, Raja Garuda Mas: Pulp & Paper and Sawit Coconut, USD 1,3 billion (IDR11,7 trillion)
7. Eddy William Katuari, Wings Group: Consumer Goods and Property, USD 1,1 billion
8. Aburizal Bakrie, Bakrie Group: Energy, Property, and Telecommunication, USD 1 billion (IDR 9 trillion)
9. Arifin Panigoro, Medco Energy, USD 900 million
10. Harry Tanoesoedibyo, MNC Group, USD 900 million
